Balti House, Lowry Road, Tingley

You'll not find this unless you know where it is. In the middle of a housing estate and in a parade of shops it's quite a find and worth taking the trouble. The menu was different. Instead of the standard "indian" dishes the chef had created a few of his own and I tried Mr Naga's Lamb while a friend had Hash ti Bash (duck in a spicy sauce with potatoes). The other two had chicken Korma which is usually sweet to the point of sickly but here made an excellent breakfast the following day and Chef's vegetarian special (breakfast 2 days later). All dishes were different from the run of the cotton mill and had real fire and tang. Mr Naga had used scotch bonnet chillis in his homemade sauce and it showed.

A very impressive do and they do takeaway. If you're on the M62 late at night and anywhere near junction 27 and clearly in need of a strong curry it's worth ringing ahead and taking a slight detour (only about 500 yds from the motorway) to pick up a carryout.
